Stage 7 – Engine Bay Temperature

Oil temperatures are beyond what we feel is safe (most likely too thin) and the hood would be steaming – so much that you did not want to place your hand near it.

After running 8 hours on the track we started to think maybe our luck may run out. We better look at cooling the engine bay area.

After some debate there really is no option in dropping the temperature. We decided to wrap the ceramic coated header. This will increase velocity flow and decrease engine temperature where by damaging the manifold (rust, thermal retention…)

Note 1: run stainless hose clamps since the standard ones will rust do to the changes in temperature.

The finished product

Lessons learned:

  • Wear gloves (very itchie stuff)
  • A tighter wrap can be achieved with water
