Winter Festival Lac La Biche 2009

What a beautiful morning on a lake bed. Thanks to Ken Staples for letting us crash at your place.

Even though it was a frosty cold morning, this makes up for it

The ice racer started right without any issues

Domo and Dave came out to help as pit crew.

What a beautiful track that Kenny Staples designed.

What an awesome sight – a roll of neons! (Hey, I know where my roots come from owning an ACR neon)

The sheer number of racers is amazing.

The team did well. We placed 1st in the unlimited class.

What about drama?

A few indents on the track:

This was a bad call IMO having the guys stop at the corner. It (again – IMHO) should be when seeing a red flag that all drivers MUST stop at the safest place. Clearly stopping at a blind corner is just asking for car carnage…. (I’m just saying it just does not feel safe). This would be on both the driver and the corner marshals. There should be better communication.

The other thing I thought a standing red flags looks no different than the corner flags placed around the corners (maybe the corners should be painted a neon splash) – scary for any driver to miss a red flag.

The result was bumper and fender love here and there as the other race cars tried to not hit the cars stopped.

There was EG love and then the weirdest conversation:

Dave, Domo, and myself pointed out the leak. A pan was found and placed underneath – a little odd how reluctant you were.

Anyway this gave us a chuckle in ” I lost all throttle”

This would explain why and not really throttle related.

The heart Breaker was Magnas that flipped and then rolled.

Magnas is ok.

The rest of the events that were happening – I didn’t get a chance to check them all out.
